Light week of data ahead

FXStreet (Bali) - This coming week will be light on the data front, notes Franklin Wang, Strategist at Nomura.

Key Quotes

"In the US, we will receive the existing home sales data for March on Wednesday; we expect an increase by 2.8% to 5019K. We will receive new home sales data for March on Thursday; we expect a decline of 3.5% to 520K, after jumping by almost 8% in the previous month. On Friday, we will receive durable goods orders; excluding transportation, durable goods have been weak since last summer, but motor vehicle assemblies increased in March; thus, we expect a gain of 0.6% in the headline durable orders."

"In Europe, the German ZEW economic expectations index will be released on Tuesday; we expect a slight decline to 54.0 in April. BoE will release its meeting minutes on Wednesday; we expect a unanimous vote in favor of no change in policy. UK retail sales will be released on Thursday. German Ifo business climate index will be released on Friday; we expect an increase to 108.3 in April from 107.9 in March."

"In Japan, March trade statistics will be released on Wednesday; we expect a 9.7% y-o-y rise in nominal exports. Elsewhere in the world, RBA will release its April meeting minutes on Tuesday."

USD longs cut again - Nomura

According to the IMM data for the week ended April 14, positioning in USD fell by $1.3bn to $46.5bn, Nomura notes.
